Full albergues – day 15

Probably wont be doing this hike again. It’s a race from one albergue to the next. People wake up at 5am, run to the next albergue, full it up by noon. When we hike to it, after hiking all day, it’s full. Had to do an extra 6km today just to get a bed. It’s not right. We can’t take lunch breaks, or coffee breaks for fear of full hostels and no beds – and it’s not like there is any alternative.

Cold winds today, probably 15-20 gusting to 25 or 30. Blows us over. And it’s cold and sunny. Not a bad combo. Today was described in the guide books as flat and featureless. Also he should have added no place for bathroom breaks. But we knew this. It’s the camino. I did the “camino walk of shame” – walking through a field after finding a bush to pee behind. Nothing new for me!

Poor you – it doesn’t sound like much fun – and not adventurous enough to make up for the lack of facilities. You WILL be looking forward to Devon!

We had a lovely visit from Charlie at the weekend. He’s well but missing you…

    love Jenny x

you should just quit hiking and stay in hotels and enjoy Spain instead of running from hostel to hostel! it sounds miserable. sorry about the weather and lack of beds!
